UNESCO Creative City Bid Update (next steps, plus Culture Strategy update)

UNESCO Creative City Bid Update (next steps, plus Culture Strategy update)

Welcome to our event where we will be sharing the latest updates on our bid to become a UNESCO Creative City! Join us at The Edge Hub Limited for an in-person gathering where we will discuss the next steps in the process and provide an update on our Culture Strategy. Don't miss this opportunity to be part of our exciting journey towards earning this prestigious designation. See you there!

As the Culture Strategy consultation draws to a close (0900, Monday 5th August), we want to share an update on what the results have told us, and also take the opportunity to share what we have been doing in developing the potential bid to UNESCO for Hull to become a designated Creative City.

In the first hour, we welcome Dave Porter, J-Night who will share what he has learnt from site visits to UK UNESCO Creative Cities. This will be followed by Kath Wynne-Hague, Head of Culture, Place and City Centre and James Dickinson, Head of the Music Service, Hull City Council who will share what they have learnt in terms of the bid and what information is required, and share what is they currently know and what other information is needed to complete the bid. Kath will then explore the next steps of the bid, and what this means and how it all relates to the Hull’s Culture Strategy, 2025 – 2030. Stew and Jenny of Hull Music Net will share information on their programme of work and impact it is making, and finally, we will share news about the Adelphi’s plans to celebrate 40 years of grass roots music in the city.
