Creative Culture - Screen & Solidarity

Join us for a free networking event that goes beyond the usual meet-and-greet. We’re hosting a special screening of The Town I love so well, a thought-provoking film by Working Class Creatives member, Sam Batley, followed by a networking session which aims to bring together creatives of Hull and beyond.

In the words of Sam Batley 'The Town I love so well, pays homage to the abundance of creativity, community and culture brimming at the heart of Barnsley, alongside the hearts of it's people. The films narrative explores these communities and the richness of their creative pursuit, regardless of generation, circumstance, or lived experience. It holds a space for stories of traditional industries that were once at the forefront of the towns identity, identities that remain, and the ones yet to flourish. To the generation who navigated the world after it's collapse, followed by the one to catalyse change, to love loudly, to be heard; this is a yearlong love letter to the town I love so well.'

This event is open to all, as an opportunity to connect with like-minded creatives in a relaxed and inspiring setting. We hope for it to leave attendees feeling hopeful and inspired by themselves, peers and the city they reside. There will be an introduction from Elly Taylor about who the Edgehub are and what we do as well as our Creative Culture programme, alongside founders Seren Metcalfe and Chanelle Windas of Working Class Creatives Database. Whether you're passionate about film, art, music, design, or simply looking to expand your network and find out about the edge-hub and WCCD, this event is for you!
